Building the Perfect Marketing Plan

Our CEO, Peter Mahoney recently went on Drift Insider (video coming soon) where he gave away twelve actionable tips for creating and maintaining the perfect marketing plan.

Without further ado, here they are;

1) Define/refine target market and messaging (it's important to re-assess this at the beginning of your plan process)

2) Market and competitive scan (make sure you aren't just navel gazing!)

3) Define marketing strategy (πŸ‘ˆ this part is super important - and most people don't really do it...)

4) Get alignment and agreement on goals, metrics, targets, milestones - AND strategy (if senior management doesn't agree here - you are in deep πŸ’©)

5) Build a framework of broad, thematic campaigns (don't dive into the tactics yet!!)

6) Document existing commitments (make sure you know how much πŸ’° you *really* have to spend...)

7) Map commitments to objectives and campaigns and trim as necessary ("if the tactic doesn't fit, you must omit!" - said in your best Johnnie Cochran voice)

8) Build tactic plan organized into campaigns and assess capacity to deliver on metrics (do your campaigns deliver on the targets 🎯 you defined in your metrics?)

9) Organization and budget assessment (can your team 🀝 deliver with the resources in your plan?)

10) Benchmark budget (this is hard to do, but plannuh is building in the capability to benchmark! πŸ“)

11) Secure approval and alignment (Get the big boss πŸ™†β€β™‚οΈ to agree!)

12) Execute, measure, refine, repeat (Do the work! πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈβš‘οΈ)
